  • There are about 400-500 Aleut speakers.
  • There are about 11,000 Yupik speakers.
  • There are about 98,000 Inuit speakers.
  • Native speakers can be currently found in Alaska, Nunavut and Inuvialuit Settlement Region (the Canadian Arctic), Nunavik, Nunatsiavut, Greenland and the Chukchi Peninsula (far eastern Siberia).
  • The language family is declining and several languages are close to extinction. Many languages are already extinct.
