- This is a family of 11 languages.
- 1 Aleut language
- 10 Eskimo languages
- 5 Inuit-Inupiaq languages
- There are about 400-500 Aleut speakers.
- There are about 11,000 Yupik speakers.
- There are about 98,000 Inuit speakers.
- Native speakers can be currently found in Alaska, Nunavut and Inuvialuit Settlement Region (the Canadian Arctic), Nunavik, Nunatsiavut, Greenland and the Chukchi Peninsula (far eastern Siberia).
- The language family is declining and several languages are close to extinction. Many languages are already extinct.
